RAMJA GENOSENSOR PVT LTD is functional since 2019 our start up started their journey in Foundation for Innovation and Technology transfer at IIT Delhi. We are a med-tech start-up involved in deep tech. innovation. Ours is the first Indian company that offers smart, innovative paper-based biosensors for the detection of microbial infection and antibiotic resistance within 90 minutes. For this work, RAMJA has won several grants and awards i.e., BIG, PFIZER, Facebook, DBT, DST, SIDBI, WinER, BioAsia.

We developed the first Indian paper based Genosensor device, which will detect bacterial infection and antibiotic resistance in 90 minutes. We have developed the panel which is in sync with WHO and published in Lancet 2022. We offer panels having bacteria causing infection and AMR related deaths around 30 lakh per year. Our Trial with AIIMS Delhi is going on. Our device is portable, ultrafast, gene-specific, sensitive, and eco friendly.

- Importance of time in medication
Time plays a crucial role in the medical profession. The term “proper medication” refers to taking the right medication at the right time. You may have noticed that when a doctor prescribes medicines to a patient, he or she frequently specifies the precise time at which the medication should be taken. This is because treatment can only be successful if it is taken at the right time.
Traditional methods of detection of infection and antibiotic resistance will take around 3-4 days to generate the final report which is ineffective in case of patients suffering from serious immune complex diseases. This problem gave rise to the thought of making a device that is capable of detecting infection and antibiotic resistance in the minimum period. So that the patient can be treated on an urgent basis and medication can be given to them considering the correct reports as soon as possible.
- Accuracy of the report
The final report generated after sample analysis by PRATHAMASENSE is highly accurate as the device is highly sensitive to every microbial infection. Since this is Paper-based biosensor technology, the detection limit is quite less and can even detect minute microbial infection and antibiotic resistance.

Presently, a large-scale trial is going on with AIIMS, New Delhi to ensure that the report produced by PRATHAMASENSE is completely reliable and, most importantly, to ensure that proper medication can be given to every patient on time, based on a trustworthy report.
- AMR Detection Kit As per WHO, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is one of the top 10 global public health threats facing humanity, which needs immediate attention.
As per 2021 data, it was estimated that due to antimicrobial resistance 1 person dies every 45th second. And if the situation doesn’t get better then it would result in 1 person death in every 3 seconds by 2050.
Infection is a critical problem, especially in the intensive care unit (ICU), where 60–80% of patients experience dangerous infections including catheter-related bloodstream infections, ventilator-associated pneumonia, and catheter-associated urinary tract infections.
Every single patient in the ICU is screened due to the high infection rates. Time is crucial since a one-hour delay in treatment can increase the risk of death by up to 60-80 percent in critical situations.
Contrarily, conventional studies take two to five days to yield results, and doctors are compelled to treat infections with synthetic antibiotics, which worsens the patient’s risk of developing antibiotic resistance. With more than 80% of ICU patients getting antibiotics during their stay, the overuse of broad-spectrum antimicrobial medicines is frequently connected to the development of antibiotic resistance.

Clinical staff and experts in infection control can swiftly detect, isolate, and treat patients who have been colonised or infected with bacteria that are resistant to treatment thanks to quick and precise diagnostics.
